The Science of Neem

Dentaboost uses a unique combination of scientifically-proven natural ingredients, including our proprietary neem complex blend to instantly improve the health of your gums and overall oral hygiene. The key ingredient is neem, an herb derived from the neem tree of India. Revered by ancient herbalists and modern scientists alike, neem has been described as the “village pharmacy” because of its remarkable medicinal qualities.

We boosted the power of neem, enhancing it with natural oral medicine including clove and cinnamon to create our neem complex, the only natural oral health product specifically formulated to promote healthy gums.

Neem (Azadirachta indica), is a tree indigenous to India. Extracts from the neem tree provide high levels of antioxidants and proven immune-boosting properties. Antioxidants are natural substances which combat free radicals. Free radicals are created as the natural byproduct of the body metabolizing oxygen, as well as the body’s response to environmental toxins like bacteria, cigarette smoke, and alcohol. Free radicals are believed to contribute to many of the negative effects of aging and disease, including maladies related to oral health.
International studies have shown a direct correlation between levels of the antioxidant glutathione and periodontal disease (although they have not shown that low levels of antioxidants directly cause the problems). Higher levels of glutathione have been shown to promote the growth of healthy cells and support your body’s response to minor inflammation. Neem contains several key antioxidants including glutathione, quercetin, and rutin. The levels of antioxidants in various plants are measured in a test called the Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC). Neem bark has an ORAC score of nearly 500, compared to broccoli at 15, blueberries at 62 and goji berries at 253. Neem’s superior antioxidant attributes make it ideal for helping to address one of the most widespread concerns in the US—oral health.
